Two actors trained from the National School of Drama have come together to act in a unique Hindi film called ‘Haal-E-Kangaal’ or ‘The Bankrupts’. The uniqueness of this film is that it has only two characters in it.  Two filmmaker friends meet after fourteen years and have to spend a span of eight to ten hours together.  As they celebrate the re-union one narrates a story of a possible film to another. Soon, the past catches up with them and central to this past is the fatherhood of a fourteen year old girl!

This black comedy is set in a flat in a suburbs in Mumbai is shot by FTII trained camera person the Singapore based Narayanan Venkataraman.  Experienced sound designer Santosh Kumar has recorded the sound and is responsible for the sound track. Director Ramchandra PN has himself edited this film and written its screenplay.

After graduating fromt eh National School of drama in 1985 Actor Niraj sah, playing one the the leads, worked with the likes of Robin Das, Barry John, Fritz Benewitz BM Shah, Ram Gopal Bajaj Devendra Ankur and KN Pannikar.  He has worked in films like Ajay Kartik’s Karamati Coat, Mani Kaul’s Naukar Ki Kameez and recently the award winning children’s film Batul Muktiyaar’s ‘Kapaal’.

Hailing from the lad of Taj Mahal, Hemant Mahur too completed his theatrical training in 1988 and been acting in various feature film in Mumbai – some of them Ram Gopal Varma’s  ‘Jungle’ and ‘Shool’, Vikram Kapadia’s international film ‘The Warrior’ and the upcoming movie Highway directed by Imtiyaaz Ali.

The shooting of the film was completed in 2012, the editing and sound post production in the coming months. The film is seeking completion funds from prospective producers or distributors.

About the filmmaker:
Ramchandra PN is a FTII graduate.  His first feature film ‘Suddha’ (The Cleansing Rites) in the regional Tulu language won him the Best Indian Film at the Osian Cinefan Festival of Asian Films, New Delhi, India in 2006. It is the first Tulu film to have won an international recognisition. It was also awarded an exhibition grant from ‘Hubart Bals Fund’, Netherlands through which he screened the film with a portable projector in about hundred villages in the Tulu speaking districts in Coastal Karnataka. His second feature film ‘Putaani Party’ (The Kid Gang) in Kannada language won him the Best Children’s film at the Indian National Film Awards, 2009. It was also in consideration for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards Nomination, the same year.
